Why was this the only XP8 made in 2001?

February 24, 2008

Saleen made the decision to discontinue the production of the XP8 model for 2001/2002, but decided to make one last XP8 as a favor for one of his friends.

The number #12 on the bumper, which is a production number on all Saleen vehicles, represents the age of the buyer’s son at the time of purchase.  This creates some very unique production number history.

Usually production #11 is the first one offered to the public because the first ten historically stay in-house as promotional vehicles.  However, in this case, the number does not follow the normal Saleen production number pattern.

It is listed in the Saleen Registry and is documented as the only XP8 produced in 2001, and the final XP8 ever produced.
