Final XP8 Owner’s Profile

February 24, 2008

Name:  “Spike” J

Location:  WI

Occupation:  Teacher/Coach

Interests/Hobbies:  Mustangs(Any Fine Auto), Traveling, Aircraft, Football, Photography/Art

What vehicle do you drive when you are not driving your XP8?  A Range Rover HSE and an Eddie Bauer Explorer

How did you acquire the final XP8?  I saw that the owner had it up for sale on his business website and I contacted him about selling it. The rest is history. I wanted something unique that I could show with my Mustang, and the S7 was just a bit out of my price range.

How long have you owned the vehicle?  I’ve owned the XP8 for 3 years

Why do you like the XP8?  It’s a rare Performance Utility Vehicle of which they made only 119. I like the look as well as the performance.

What 3 features do you love the most about your XP8?

1. Heated Recaro Seats

2. The tight suspension (Bilstein)

3. The fact that it was the ONLY XP8 produced on an Eddie Bauer chassis

What is the major benefit of having the Eddie Bauer chassis?  I’m not sure that there really is an advantage other than it is AWD which makes the truck unique. The suspension , performance chip, gauging, seats, along with the other Saleen changes make all of the XP8’s very similar.

Would you change anything about the vehicle?  I’d like to supercharge it!

What kind of vehicle would you consider to be an equal trade for the final XP8?  Jeep SRT-8

Have you won any awards with the final XP8?  Yes, I have won an award at an All Ford Show. There are many people that don’t even know that these were made. they think that it is some cheap body kit I threw on it.

What shows do you frequent with the final XP8?  Most of the shows that I take my Mustang to, I now take the truck to. My wife is the pilot of the XP8.

Would you consider buying a new XP8 if they were still being produced today?  If Steve Saleen was still involved in the company, I would say YES.

Would you like to see the Final XP8 in person? Spike will be at the AirVenture Museum Show on Saturday June 30, 2008. Click Here to learn more!

A special thanks to Spike for allowing ExplorerXP8.com to showcase his XP8. It’s looking great Spike!
